Enhancing the role of women in all fields of engineering.

The Society of Women in Engineering at ALHOSN University (SOWIE @ AHU) is a professional nonprofit organization of women engineers, scientists and technologists in the UAE and the region. Its mission is to empower women to prosper and lead in their fields, and is open to all women in engineering and allied fields.

1- Promote the achievements of women engineers and raise public awareness of their accomplishments.
2- Constitute a forum for the exchange of opinions and experiences regarding education, research and employment for women with interests in engineering.
3- Assist women engineers in finding appropriate training and job opportunities by providing them with a reliable database and networking avenues.
4- Offer programs that facilitate young women to pursue a career in engineering and develop their technical and communication skills.
5- Collaborate with other women’s organizations and engineering societies and associations, at local, regional and international levels.

1- Seek funds and sponsors for annual awards to female students pursuing degrees in engineering fields.
2- Organize competitions and institute awards to raise the profile and effectiveness of women in engineering.
3- Initiate several outreach activities and facilitate social engagement.
4- Publish a bi-annual newsletter to be distributed in soft and hardcopies.
5- Organize regular workshops, seminars and conferences in all fields of engineering.
6- Establish a student chapter for the SOWIE @ AHU and assist future engineers in all aspects of their studies and careers.

The SOWIE @ AHU has been founded by a group of motivated women engineers who are actively involved in the profession and in the academic field at ALHOSN University.
