The Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering (BSCEng) is designed to prepare students for a successful career in the civil engineering industry, particularly the sector dealing with infrastructures in civil sector. Students are exposed to a wide range of theories and practices of civil engineering through a series of dynamic curricula.

The mission of the Department of Civil Engineering is:

To provide engineering students the ability to design physical infrastructures as related to civil, energy, environment, and communication services in our society.

Four specific objectives/ goals of the Civil Engineering program are as follows:
  1. Provide graduates with the knowledge and ability to develop and manage societys physical macroscopic and microscopic infrastructures.

  2. Provide graduates with the ability to plan, design, construct, and maintain buildings, bridges, dams, airports, highways, transportation networks, energy sources, offshore structures, irrigation systems, water supply, waste water treatment facilities, and structural materials.

  3. Provide students the ability to carry out independent observation, analysis, and research planning of both man-made and natural phenomena and infrastructures in order for them to develop analytical skills of research and graduate studies.

  4. Provide graduates the ability to function within the engineering community and the society at large and to lead the society in developing technologies that are environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.

Career Prospective of Civil Engineers
Civil engineers are highly skilled professionals with expertise in analysis, design, computer applications, and management. They work for all levels of government and in a variety of consulting engineering firms. Graduates of the Civil Engineering program are expected to work around the world on challenging and technically advanced civil engineering projects. This will include various sectors of conventional civil engineering.
